50th Surprise Party

This weekend, my sister in laws successfully threw a surprise party for my mother-in-law.  She turned 50 this year, and they wanted to celebrate this birthday in an extra special way.  Family and friends came over for the event, which was somehow kept a secret.  We ate food, cake, goofed around, and celebrated.
Joseph is Julie's "birthday buddy"- born on the same day, only forty five years apart.
Joseph and his beloved Michael Oher figurine box.  This kid is a definition of a character.
Playing "spiderman".
  Goofin' around with Uncle Bill.
The host herself.  A bit tired from all of that mostaccioli preparations the night before.
On our way out, we stopped and said goodbye to the vibe.  Mike's parents recently traded the vibe in to get Mike's dad a new truck.  I have to admit, I'll be sad to see this thing go.  This was Mike's car all through out college- we spent many a adventure in the vibe including numerous camping trips and our trip to St. Louis when we got engaged.  I will also never forget all of the couches that were brought home on the top of the vibe.
One last look.
Goodbye vibe!

This Past Weekend

This past weekend was filled with many celebrations.  Friday morning I helped throw the graduation for a minor that I work for at the University of Michigan.  Then right after graduation, I hurried up to Lowell, Michigan to throw one of my best friends a surprise baby shower along with Leslie's best friend Nicole.  Phew.  Two big events like this in one day definitely wiped me out.  Although it was definitely worth it!  I knew I wanted to throw Leslie this shower since even before she was pregnant.  Since her and Josh are moving away to Azerbaijan, she was going to miss out having a baby shower.  I wanted her and baby M to feel celebrated and loved.  Luckily, thanks to some handy work by Josh, the shower stayed a surprised.  I didn't get to take many pictures but here are a few that I got to take:
One of our activities planned was decorating onesies.  We got a whole bunch in all different sizes (minus newborn size) and strung them up with some clothes pins.  I was amazed by the creativity of all the women there.  The one in the center in the above picture was made by Leslie's mom.
The night before I stayed up until 3 am doing all of the floral arrangements for the tables.  Here is a picture of the big vase on the food table:

The next morning I got up and went to my next celebration- to see Michelle graduate from Grand Valley State University!

My cousin also graduated so I got to see my grandparents, aunt and uncle and cousins.  Later that day I also got to hang out with my cousin Michelle as well as more high school friends in Grand Rapids.  Overall, it was a wonderful day of celebrations.
